Dubai
Dubai is one of the most famous cities in the United Arab Emirates, known for its modern skyscrapers, luxury shopping malls, sunny beaches, and world-class entertainment. Once a desert settlement, Dubai has grown into one of the world’s most popular travel destinations.
The city is home to iconic landmarks such as Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper, and Palm Jumeirah, the famous man-made island with luxury hotels, restaurants, and beaches. Dubai Mall offers shopping, dining, entertainment, and a huge aquarium, while Dubai Marina is known for its impressive skyline, yachts, and waterfront promenade.
Visitors can also explore Dubai’s rich cultural heritage in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood or enjoy a traditional dhow cruise along Dubai Creek.
Modern attractions include Dubai Frame, offering views of the old and new city, Dubai Fountain with its spectacular water and light shows, and the Museum of the Future, dedicated to technology and innovation. Ain Dubai offers panoramic views of the city and coastline.
For families, The Lost Chambers Aquarium at Atlantis The Palm is a popular attraction showcasing marine life and the underwater world.
With its unique mix of modern attractions, cultural heritage, entertainment, and beautiful scenery, Dubai is a destination with something for every traveler.
Dubai is located on the shores of the Persian Gulf in the United Arab Emirates և, generally at sea level (16 m or 52 m above sea level). The Emirate of Dubai shares its borders with Abu Dhabi in the south, Sharjah in the east, and Oman in the southeast. The small district of the Emirate of Hatta is surrounded on three sides by the Emirates of Oman (Ajman (west)) and the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah (north). In fact, Dubai is distinguished by its desert background, which has sand reservoirs and oases. In Dubai there are magnificent coastal islands, corals and salt marshes. You will be surprised to learn that there are also a number of mountains in Dubai that are located in the Gulf of Oman.
Islam is inextricably linked to the structure of UAE society. Muslims literally accept the Qur’an as the word of God, through which special moral principles related to all the problems of everyday life are passed down from generation to generation. That is why the book itself is highly respected, it needs to be treated with respect. Although the Muslim tradition in Dubai is the freest in its culture among Arab societies, it is no different.
For Muslims, the holy month of Ramadan is celebrated with prayer, fasting and almsgiving. As an Islamic country, the culture of Dubai is no different; many restaurants and cafes are closed during the day. Non-Muslims should not eat, drink or smoke in public places, but only in private or specially closed hotel restaurants.
Compared to its oil wealth, the UAE has a small population estimated at 2,624,000 in 1997. Until 1970, when the local population was very small (estimated at eighty-six thousand in 1961), the country did not have the technical skills needed for modern society. The trade in oil production led to an increase in diet, health, and living standards, which resulted in an increase in the number of foreign workers. The last factor was the dependence on emigrant labor; the UAE has become a multinational society; only 20% of the population is resident in the UAE. Because of all this, there was an unbalanced distribution of the population in favor of men. In 1997, there were 1,755,000 men and 869,000 women in Dubai.
About two-thirds of the immigrants are Asians, mostly from India, Pakistan, Iran, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the Philippines. The rest are Arabs, Europeans and Americans.
